I have a Mpc 2500, a Korg Triton and a Yamaha Motif es rack. I start making beats on software (fruity loops, Reason, etc..)
I felt like I was missing something so I decided to ditch the software and go hardware. Im having trouble and its really frustrating me that I bought all this hardware and im not able to get whats in my head into the music. Anyway....I want to use the Mpc to sequence and the Motif rack and Triton for sounds. My problem comes mostly with the Motif rack, I make one midi track, with one instrument from the Motif rack, but im totally clueless on how to switch to a different instrument and make another track....I know, I know...somebody is going to say just switch midi channels I tried that and all I get is the same instrument playing on a different channel. Does anybody follow me? Do I have everything hooked up wrong? Do I need more equipment? (maybe a midi interface) Im just frustrated that I spent a lot of money on the Motif es rack, and the sounds are bad ass!! And I only can get one sound out of it!! Please help somebody!!!

I went there help a little but didnt tell me what I was wanting to know. I've downloaded the Motif Rack es manual and have been looking through it, still needed help. I believe its the Midi thing, but I can't quiet put my finger on it.

you want to set your rack unit to multitimbral, then assign different midi channels for each sounds.-e.g. school house piano - midi A1, lately bass - midi channel A2 etc.

see your manual for how to do that.
or
if you can't be assed with that,
sample the output of the rack unit into your mpc. then choose another instrument on the rack unit, play your tune, and sample again.
whichever works for you.
