Any S1000KB owners?

Going to look at one tomorrow. Dude wants $100 but the disk drive doesn't work (has SCSI), a couple of buttons are missing and he doesn't know how many MB's it has. I'm gonna juke him down on the price when I get to check it out.
What else should I look out for? I've always wanted an Akai S950< rack sampler but I think this might be a great deal though its a keyboard version of an S1000 .

sweet, if it has scsi then screw the disk drive... get a new one for 10 bucks.

get it as low as possible i guess... i mean depends also how many buttons are actually busted and how they are busted.

i think grublet has one.

If you don't like it you could always use them as quality weight lifts, you seen the size of them ahahah

The S-1000 is a nice sampler, great sound and easy to use if you are farmiliar with the Akai way of doing things

The only thing that I'm aware of with them things is the backlight, looks like it's more of a pain to replace too than on the rack units. Also check that the SCSI works

Also worth mentioning is the memory expansion boards are quite rare and expensive, they are not normal ram but Akai's own type ish...this was the order of the day till the XL's like the S-3000XL

Akai S1000KB rare as hen's teeth.

Buy it as cheaply as possible, repair it, use it or sell it to a 'collector'.

Certainly a collectors item, great sampler, good investment.

I haven't looked at it yet. Dude called me crying on the phone because he got fired from his job so he had to cancel.

I'm supposed to swing by his house on Saturday to look at it. It'll give me time to come up with a white lie to tell my wife about how I got it.

c'mon its your WIFE. I know the reactions a new sampler can cause on wifes first hand but lies (doesnt matter if its a "whitelie") aren't healthy for a relationship. Just my opinion.

No shiet... it is waaay bigger and heavier than an ASR10



Thing is a beast for sounds... comes with 8 outs... you can see the waveform for editing and while it is sampling...


I guess the rack version would sound the same? who knows.


I just like being able to chop on keys or pads... Leaning over a tad instead of just squaring up to a rack

the cursor is mad easy as is naming.
