rack samplers as sound modules

anybody use racks samplers as a sound module as opposed to a rack synth or a rompler

i've been thinking about it, all i really sample is stuff for a track, i don't have a rack sampler

but i see like multisample cd roms or emu instrument cd roms with banks from their modules

it seems this could be cheaper and more of a personal approach that buying different modules, cuz i could put my own sounds in there

if so, any reccomendations, i peeped the emu e6400 and the esi 2 and 4k

i got an esi2000 and a s2000 and they are both real cool. get a SCSI card for ur pc and it will make em ill

do you use them like sound module....loading up different instruments in them, or do you use them as a sampler in the sense that, whatever you want to sample you do, drums or whatever

i pretty much do whatever. i uses it like a soundmod, for drums, cuts, loops, all diff programs. they are 16 part mulitimbrale, so that means 16 diff programs, then the mpcs 4 (drum 1, 2, etc)

yeah but no sysex. the s2000 is real cool cause of mesa. everything on it can be done on the screen. but with reycle 2.0 (NOT 2.1, CAUSE PROPELLERHEADS ARE A BUNCH OF COC*SUCKERS THAT WANT U TO SELL ALL UR HARDWARE AND BUY REASON) or soundforge u can send files right to the esi or s2000. which is really cool. The esi though has more editing and features then the s2000 but when they both to a pc usin a waveditor then shit is straight.

as of right now i am leaning more towards kinda building a sound module, like getting sounds that i know i want, and putting them in instead of buying something way more expensive and possible being dissappointed
but you know how it goes, we'll see what happens when it's time to buy

yeah, that's what i figured, i jus wondered if anyone was doin it on here and what samplers you would reccomend, cuz as of right now i jus do the "typical" type sampling,

so any advice on the technique in question would be appreciated

i guess that's why i have always liked the asr ( i don't have one but my partner does) cuz you can put whatever type of sound you want in there

One thing about the ASR theres no low pass resonant filter....I think your on the right track going with an EMU.

yeah, i'm leanin more toorwards one of the emu racks, don't know which
mabey eIV or e64, or even esi2000 or 4000, of course i would get a scsi hardruve and a cd rom drive to hold my samples, we'll see
