Trouble in MPC paradise

Hey,
I have my midi to usb cable connected to my mac from my MPC along with my 1/4 inch cables from my MPC to my m-audio moblie pre...
Problem is i want to load samples i downloaded online but my computer wont recognize the MPC...(on the MPC I go to load page, then usb tab, and screen reads "for mac OS, please eject the mounted disk on your Mac, before you leave this page)...but there is no mounted disk on my mac!
I have had this setup before, and can't figure out why its not working now...

a midi to usb cable is for midi

if you want to transfer samples via usb you need a usb cable, connected to the MPC's usb port
