Help fixing Stereo Output

Hello MPC freaks

well here is my situation

My MPC 2kXL has it's left stereo output busted.
With that I mean that other times it makes sound other times not. but never the same as my right channel.
(I definitely know it is the left stereo output and not anything else)

So I need to replace it.
My question is whether it can be done externally or not?
ie by taking apart the silver metal piece from the black plastic one (hope you get what I mean)


Although I know it can be done internally by de-soldering the whole output and soldering a new one
(competent with solder iron)
I would like to know if it can be done the other way too.

if you mean unscrew the thing that locks the jack into the sideplate...then haven't you tried that already?

no you can't replace it like that, it's soldered to the board.

have you tried other cables though? if the sounds cutting in and out it's either a loose connection in the jack or in the cable. be sure to try another cable first, as that is much more likely to go first.

you can get a jack for that at any electronics shop.

you have to pull the case off, then take the board out that has the output that is scratchy out...


there will be a black plastic box that is the jack itself..


it will have 3 contact points to the circuit board.



you will have to heat up a soldier gun and re-heat the 3 contact points... it is most likely one of the 3 that is not connected or has started "floating" on the board instead of being soldiered.


probably a 20 minute job.

As I said I am 100% sure it is the jack probkem as I have tried every possible combination.

I got my answer, that I have to change the whole thing (I'll check the connections first for sure)

Ok just changed it

and no difference at all.

I went again through all my cables
my soundcard, my speakers and everything!

Does anyone have any clue to what I should be checking next?
If it is even before the jack, what could it be?
How could I find it?
