External or Internal.

Ive, read around trying to see if I could get a answer to this in the search but no luck.

Anyway, ive heard the external drives are fast then the internal.

Also my friend doesnt even have a ZIP drive he got me a Jaz drive that holds 1-2GB disks of data. I havent connected mine yet because I dont have the cable but I know it works because he has on on his mpc2000xl.

I just want to know which is faster the internal zip or the external zip.

External zip is faster

ìf the internal zip is scsi it should be the same speed. also a mpc formatted disk and saving the samples as*.snd will speed up things a bit.

Internal zip drives are IDE and IDE is much slower than SCSI, hence, external SCSI zips are much faster. Did Iomega make internal SCSI zips? They certainly dont now according to their site.

You'll find when people refer to an internal zip drive on an MPC, they are talking about an IDE drive. Typically, I find my IDE zip to take two to three time longer to load than my external SCSI.

the zip i last installed on my mpc is an iomega, i had bought it off ebay and the guy basically had taken it off an old mac, i don't know if it was a common product, mine was fine up until 2 weeks ago when it start killing zip disks, maybe there's a reason they stopped.

my internal zip is scsi, as I bought the xl, when there was a problem with ide zips, so the service-technician build in a scsi zip. since 2001 there are no more internal scsi zips made bei imoga afaik

Anyone else using these Jaz drives?

I have a friend who has been using one for years with his 2000.

It should work fine.
