Now, the record switch is a combination move - hold down the red record button, rotate the switch (it's a monster) to play, past play, and into record.
We had just held down the button and not rotated the switch all the way....just sat there playing blank tape the whole time.
Happy ending though, we just immediately locked into work mode after that and redid 90% of the tracks and they sound great.
