Ensoniq ASR-10 help, for ASRonians.

hmmmm... that one is more tricky.

The "layer" volume is one option... edit > amp when layer (1) is highlighted

but if you have multiple samples at different volumes, this won't help.



There may be a setting in there somewhere in edit seq or cmd seq that would be "recording mix automation" or "record track changes" or something like that.


never had that problem... so it must be a setting.



Don't forget to save your parameters to your OS disk once you get them where you like them.... cause the ASR won't keep em.

next question -- how to fade out the specified step sequence in a song? Say I would like to fade out the last 30 seconds of a song, i know i can do this manually (or using a DAW later on PC), but is there a way to do this automatically using ASR?

i located the digital and analog boards but i don't know how to detach the 34-pin ribbon cable, and i read ahead in the instructions and everything else looks even more complicated. do i need to buy any more parts for this because it's talking about attaching ribbon cables here and there, an ohmmeter, etc.

just focus on the removal first... get the old floppy out.... ribbon cable and power supply detached from the drive etc...


then, you need to give more info on which product you bought, and who you bought it from... Is it a floppy to ide bridge SD card... or is it a SCSI 50 pin CF?

i forgot to specify that it's an external cf card reader from scsiforsamplers.com. its the Max II one.
i didn't think you'd need to take this shit apart to install it, i thought you could plug it right in. but the service manual leads me to believe otherwise. what do i need to do?

plug it into the 25 pin scsi port... set the device ID on the external drive (unless it is pre-set to something)


power both on


cmd system


change storage device from floppy to scsi ID "5" or whatever you are running.


and Maybe a format after that.

well thats what i thought to do at first, but the scsi port at the back of the asr was covered by a piece of metal inside. and when i looked at the instructions for installing a scsi device in the service manual, one of the steps was to remove that piece of metal, and so i thought that was the set of instructions i was supposed to follow.

just a blank panel? like two screws and a panel patch...

drunk --> You need a SCSI 25pin port on the back of ASR-10, no need to really open the case if you got it.. If not then you need to install a SCSI adapter first.

Next question -- this times concerning fading out/in individual instruments. I know I can press record and then Edit/Track and fade out/in a mix to record a manual fading out/in of the individual track, but it seems it keeps resetting to 99 when it loops itself -- how to do this so that it does not reset to 99?

and it should say "scsi installed" on boot up if I am not mistaken

this is what it looks like, at the back of the asr, under where it says "SCSI", there is a slot but its covered from the inside by a piece of metal. does that mean that i don't have a scsi board inside, and i'll need to install something before i can plug my external cf card reader in? that would **** suckkkkk. but is it possible that i have everything i need and i just need to take out that cover? cause the service manual instructions mention taking that out, so maybe there's something behind it
