I've recently purchased an mpc 1000. I'm used to chopping samples in Edison through FL Studio but unfortunately I don't have it anymore!

Could anyone suggest any free software that they'd rate for chopping samples?

Thanks again.

it's not great, but Audacity will do the job

you can mark regions then export each marked region to a separate WAV file, then transfer to your MPC

i think soundforge audio studio is 50 billion times better than audacity. and its only 50 bucks. well worth it if you use a pc imo.

be sure that you get the audio studio version or youll be paying like 300 dollars for the regular version. but the audio studio version works well enough for me to just chop samples.

the reason i like it so much is that you can highlight a bar, then you can click inside it and half it, to get around half of the bar. then do that again. and move them around to get it exact.

but having a region that highlights a bar, and being able to edit in between those regions without losing the markers on the ends is def a win for me.
