I've heard it on a number of tracks before but these 2 are the ones that spring to mind been searching for this break for a while been buggin me out.. it sounds like a potential Get out of my life version but I've gone through a shitload of versions with no luck...

you sure that isn't just "impeach the president" with some EQ and layering?

Hmmm...I don't know it doesn't really sound like it could be Impeach imo but I can see where you would make that distinction. The drums sound too similar in each tracks so I kinda doubt that they've EQ'd and layered Impeach the same way. Any fellow drum break fiends care to give their thoughts?

Def not "Impeach." Sounds very familiar but I can't place it.

OK, to be honest, it may be "close" in terms of the pattern being pretty similar and the tone of the drums is not totally dissimilar either. But there's none of that Skull Snaps snap in the Lil Dap beat and the sound is way more metallic.

And you're talking about one of the most obvious and well known drum breaks in all of hip hop. Any drum break that is actually not "It's a New Day" is simply "not even close" to it. And definitely no offense (this is drum breaks we're talking about after all!), but suggesting that "Impeach" and "It's a New Day" sound similar doesn't really add any weight to what you're saying...

well excuuuse me for getting 2 of the most common breaks out there confused without even listening to them first... i recognized it to sound like a well-known break, i just got confused at first as to which one i was thinking of... also, you do realize that people can EQ/filter/layer/pitch-shift samples as well, right? drums aren't always going to sound identical to the original sample source... just sayin.
