Anyone wanting multitimbral mode should try sending 4 channels of midi data to their 1000 at once. My controller was in multi mode and sending just mod and pitch wheel changes on only 4 midi channels with active track receive set to ALL and the timing of the MPC got very messed up (not subtle). even just moving the mod wheel back and forth would clog the machine so much that the internal clock would actually STOP until the data stopped coming in, then it would zip forward to catch up.

I have a feeling the MPC midi input can't handle multimode witout a serious rewrite, and honestly, anything that compromizes the timing on the machine is not good.

I also experienced problems when I were working on a beat. My setup is ableton slaved to mpc 2500. I have a triton connected to the mpc, and also a SL 25 mkII on another port. I used some heavy samples (long), and my beat changed completely to something else. I managed to recreate the error somehow, so I could record the song. It came with a totally different groove.

We may want to get pears from a tree called Olive ?
Metaphorically speaking .

Individual track lengths as with Yamaha RS7000 and forthcoming Elektron Octatrack. Inidividual track EQ would be useful too.

That would probably require a big architechtural change to implement

Not enough CPU power to go around. Unless maybe he disables the second filter. But given that you have two filters, either or both of which can also be shelving EQ, I think the better idea is to add a one band parametric EQ to the filter types. Two EQ bands per sample is way better than one 3-4 band EQ per track.

I'd like the following:

1 different length in ONE BAR EDIT ( 1-16 step )
Not only 16 step.

Operating system SOKKos to the POWER !!!

2 Add in ONE BAR EDIT
Track +/-

3 Receive all parameters CC in Mpc.
Not only cc71 , cc74

4 thanks...

hm anyone is really expecting at least one ofthese features to become real? ;-)

JJ Team have done a fantastic job so far and I'm more than happy with the continued support for operating systems that I purchased long ago for a nominal fee. Some great ideas first discussed in these forums have become part of the OS so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that someone will suggest something that JJ can add / improve again.

I've only had my MPC 1000 for just over a week, and with the JJ OS2 XL it is superb, making music is fun again. Some of the things I'd like to see (bear in mind I might have missed some features that already exist, I'm still learning..)

* q-slider whole note tune - steps in semitones or selectable scales as on the electribe.
* ALL option to remember it's setting through a session - I spoend more time working with this on, I wish it would stay on in a session.
* programmable note repeat patterns - Ability to make your own note repeat pattern would be very useful.
* Audio track multiple takes on loop mode - Instead of stopping at the end of the loop, it records another take which would be very useful when playing guitar etc..
* selectable 8 beat count in - Sometime 8 beats would be better if recording guitar for instance.
* Random Pan option or spread option which could automatically set all the pans on a drum program to different settings.
* Recordable mutes in song mode. To explain, as far as I understand it, if you have a few different patterns in a song and then convert to song, each track must be the same instrument, velocity% etc.. If you could record mutes to a song, you could retain all the pattern settings.

Wow... I'm so happy my man is still adding features. This is a great way to start the year. All praise to JJ. Amen.

Well welcome aboard, you actually have some very good ideas. these ones in particular:

Can you explain this one?

I agree... some great and original ideas there. These ones really cought my eye:

* programmable note repeat patterns - Ability to make your own note repeat pattern would be very useful.
* Audio track multiple takes on loop mode - Instead of stopping at the end of the loop, it records another take which would be very useful when playing guitar etc..
* selectable 8 beat count in - Sometime 8 beats would be better if recording guitar for instance.
* Random Pan option or spread option which could automatically set all the pans on a drum program to different settings.

As I've said before, anything else is all gravy. My man has pushed this sucker to amazing lengths.

Thanks mp3! I love the MPC, it is the most fun making music I've had for many years!

By the all setting, I mean that when you go to program mode and want to change the values of all parts (SHIFT + F6), it reverts back to editing a single note if you either leave program mode, or go to the out section. I would find it much more useful if it remembered the setting as I always seem to be SHIFT+F6'ing. I find that at first I always work with all pads to get all the common setting right and then tweak the individual ones afterwards. Hope that explains it better.

Another thing I'd love to see which I accidentally posted on the old feature request thread, is a mixdown option for xfade loop mode. As it stands it will use double polyphony when switched on which reduecs it's usefulness. It would be great to be able to mixdown the xfaded wav either destructively or to a new one, with the loop points in place and forward selected. This way you get to get a great loop quickly and easily, and then once hard coded it will just use the usual polyphony.

The new features coming up look good, especially being able to control track vol and pan via midi, that will be fantastic!

Hi,

I'm still discovering the incredible depth of XL 1.47, and seeing what's coming with 2.00... well I don't know what REALISTIC requests I could make.

I just know I want JJ OS to stay stable, fast and reliable.

And I also know that, often, limitations allow the user to be more creative, at least for me.

We should keep in mind the hardware limitations, 128MB ram, little processor.

for people asking for a better timestretch ant pitch shift, (I don't request, but could be happy with these updated features), I'd say it would surely overwhelm the CPU and make all the rest more unstable...

2011 request : MAKE OSXL 2.0 something absolutely stable, and done.

or make 2 different OSes, available at power-on : OSXL-Studio and OSXL-Live, with different specs, i.e., I don't need FXs, so all the CPU can be used for other stuff, studio can use a big big complex OS, but more slow CPU, and Live would use a simpler OS , much lighter for CPU, but with lots of Live use tools...

ANYWAY, JJ could stop now with a definitely stable, reliable and powerful OSXL 2.0 IMHO.

cheers to all and happy new year
