Recording first into protools, then building drums

Have you tried MMC?

Yeah I have MMC on. I press record in pro-tools it starts recording but the MPC just plays. It only controls Stop, Play, FF, RW.

Basically what it all boils down is this for example.....

I come up with a chord progression on the guitar, record it in pro-tools.

Next I want to make a drum pattern with the MPC.

Is there a way of syncing up the mpc and pro-tools in this manner?

Typically I would have to add live percussion or whatever else AFTER i've dumped the MPC tracks into pro-tools.

I would like them to work hand n hand.....

When I had PT I can remember that happening, so try this...

Hold down the record button on the MPC when you press record in PT.

I know its not how you'd like it, but it worked for me on the 4000.

To do what you're suggesting means that both Pro Tools and your Mpc have to be synced via Midi. Also, it matters which Mpc you're using. Check this link out.

Clint, that works! Now the issue is I don't have a 4 count pre-roll before bar 1 when I start recording. Is there anyway of getting the count?

Good call. Thank you. That works for the most part, there's just one little issue and then this should be working flawlessly....

I've got the MPC setup as the metronome source in Pro-Tools. I have changed the count from 2 bar to 1 bar in Pro-Tools.

Pro-tools counts off using whatever track the MPC is set to (midi or drum track), the MPC starts recording.

BEAUTIFUL........

BUT....

The issue that I am having from there is that a blip, the metronome is hitting on 1.1.00.

Say that I have an organ sound that I am about to lay down. Pro-tools is using that as the 1 bar count. When the 8 bars loop around 1.1.00 has note played from the metronome. (Hope that makes sense). In step mode it shows that D(istance) is only 1

Its almost like there's a slight delay between the 2. Any help would be greatly greatly GREATLY appreciated!

It's almost like its a 5 count
