hello guys

i have a question for those testing the beta on the 1k

do we really need to go thru a computer in order to use a mid controller with the mpc?

i mean..cant we hook a midi controller directly to the midi in port?

for example..thinking on hook my doepfer pocket fader wich have 16 faders via midi port..and its ultra portable

or what about a mpd 32? it also have midi ports and we could use its 8 faders and 8 knobs to control track mixer and fx..

even more,,since the 2500 have 2 midi in ports,,could we use both? or any other midi controllers with midi ports??

or i am asking too much here??

would be mega cool to be able to hook midi controllers like this without the need of computers for live sets..

Yeah those controllers will work. My Axiom 49 works through the 5-pin MIDI OUT with no problem.

Anyhow, the beauty of JJ's work has had a huge impact on what I do. Bugs be damned, I'm able to manipulate a sample to exactly how I heard it manipulated in my mind. It's like the MPC has become an extension of my own thoughts.

For those that have problems with the beta release, it's simple, wait for the official release like I'm doing. I have a personal policy against beta testing software on my own hardware. That includes everything, computer, MPC, everything. It won't kill me to wait for an official release, but damn I am excited for what the future will bring. I thank and respect all you beta testers for digging in and pioneering this firmware for yourselves as well as the entire community.

even tho this is a 'beta' release, it's a very stable one. i haven't found any problems with it so far. doesn't seem to be putting any extra strain on the cpu, either.

plus, that new "l , r , mono , stereo" column in the PROGRAM screen is a life-saver for easily getting your polyphony down quick and saving even more cpu.

The sample of a stereo can be switched to a mono. Notes: The number of the voice used even if it switches to mono is the same.

Do you confirm or invalidate?

Reporting back,,, and there is nothing to fear. This XL 2.0 is really not that different from XL 1.47. The non-destructive mono playback is great. That's the main feature to me.

The sequencer slowdowns still exist, especially in trim mode, but no worse than XL 1.47.

the way he wrote that is confusing. there is a mono mode "l+r" seperate from "l" and "r" mode. if you use l or r, it only plays that channel and does indeed reduce your polyphony (this was the first thing i tested in the new beta!), but what the 'l+r' mode does is sum both the l & r channels to the middle, so you get a mono sounding signal from a stereo source. but since it's still using the two channels in realtime, even tho the result sounds mono it is still using 2 voices and therefore it doesn't reduce your polyphony. make sense?

i would never use that mode, personally. just use "l" or "r" and then you are saving voices. it works fine.

could someone test for me this:
for the multitimbral pitch bend (awesome) are the independent per-track ranges a global feature, or per-project? ie, do multiple projects load different pitch bend ranges?
