**UPDATE**Just purchased this major investment...pockets feeling kinda light today.

That's immense, bit too much for me to handle. I'm not the most proficient player as it is, couldn't justify something that will probably cost that much... but the technology is stunning!

Please..please...please let this come it at around $2500. If so, I am buying it as soon as it hits the streets. I would say good-by to the Fantom-G.

Less is more for me, so I'm not really a fan of these big workstations. I especially dislike the acoustically modelled sounds these companies rave about... guitars, brass, flutes etc.

The pianos and keyboard instruments look nice though.

This will take all the money in my wallet as well as the lint in my pockets. But I may just have to do it. If the OS is solid..there is nothing on the market (hardware keyboard workstations) coming close to this. Roland is asleep and Yamaha Motif XF (while impressive) got its butt handed to them with this board.

And for anyone that is familar with me knows....my first question is going to be..."How is the sampling?"

What we know:
*512 MB of sampling (...could have swear I read some where its 1GB)
16 bit/24 bit audio track recording and 16 bit/48Khz sampling (why the difference?)
Sampling via USB, analog, and digital inputs
Compatible with Korg, Akai S1000/3000, Sound Font 2.0 , Aiff, Wave, via USB
Rip audio from CDs and CD burning
*Standard Editing Features (hope they are not using Akai's definition )
Resampling, In track sampling
Sample locations for 4,000 samples/1,000 multisamples

What I mean is that when the ASR-10 was released, it raised the bar of what a sampling workstation should be. Today, the Kronos appears to have set the bar so high, it may be years for Roland and Yamaha to catch up.

Roland is really in bad shape as far as sampling workstations are concerned. The MV-8800 is discontinued..and the Fantom G is on life support...no new ARX cards and no new OS updates (after 2 years it still can't load samples in a logical manner)....

No its not. There is still to this day no other sampler that can do everything the ASR-10 can do.

There are plenty of samplers/sequencers that can do weverything the 3k can do. Whether those other samplers can do it better or not is besides the point and a matter of opinion.

Well yeah, if all you're looking at is Roland and Yamaha. But the reality is that every bit of technology in the Kronos is available in some form or another from Korg (e.g. the OASYS PCI that I owned 10 years ago) or other vendors. All they did was roll it up into one big doughball. Which means that somebody will simply come along and knock them off their pedestal by winning the spec war pissing contest.

On the other hand, the bar set by the ASR has STILL not been topped...

So.... Won't ever be another ASR.

wow dope! and I thought the new MOTIF was the hot finally somebody broke the 1g memory barrier.now I want to see what roland's gonna drop,let's go AKAI 1g memory,upto 1 terrabyte hard drive,we ready...

Word. they always sound like plastic crap. I would prefer shitty 8 bit casio sounds over these. At least those dont try too hard to sound real.

motif es can take 1gb even though by factory standard they only say 512
