WHats the best way to connect Mpc2kxl to Imac Intel Duo?

I have an Imac(Intel) and an Mpc2kxl, i want to be able to perform sample dump and also use some kind of Software to see the mpc pads..Not sure if possible but any help and ideas for connecting the to devices would be much appreciated. Im trying to complete my debut album and i want to go all out with my Mpc on the project.

Also what are the benefits of using the Mpc with my Imac..?

The XL doesn't connect to an iMac or PC, not in terms of data connections. All you can do is save stuff to floppy/zip/scsi drive/CDROM/CF and load that disk into a compatible drive on your Mac.

Once the data is there, you can use

to create programs. Or if you have Parallels or similar PC emulation, you can use MPCEditor.

Would midi do anything special in this case? Thanks,im trying to learn each aspect of my machine so i can be more masterful

MIDI (from the MPC) performs several functions with a computer (if you want it to), such as syncing your MPC with a computer's hard disk recorder or sequencer (Logic, cubase etc), or using the MPC sequencer to play computer sound modules (Reason, VSTs etc). The MPC is a MIDI sequencer, so can send MIDI data to any MIDI capable hardware or software, be it computer based or standalone sound module/synth keyboard/sampler etc.

Word? Thats your book man? Thats way fresh bro,do you cover stuff like Mr Debauch was trying to explain to me? I.E.- Make other pads mute certain pads ,like daisy chaining mutes, or the midi questions i have asked you? There are several other menus also inside the Mpc OS that i am unsure of like "shift 2,8 & 9. Do you explain and show how to use these areas also?
