Mpc 2000 SCSI

hi everyone. I know i know, this is the 100th post about that but i need a sure and a direct answer...

I have the migthy old mpc2000 and i want to connect a card reader without soldering anything...it is possible?
(i mean if exists adaptors and something like that)

If not...Someone can tell me where i can find external CHEAP card reader?

Without soldering, you can use an external SCSI card reader in a MPC 2000.

If you want an internal one, you will have to make some modifications for it to work as there is no internal SCSI connector inside the MPC 2000.

The only place you will be able to find a "CHEAP" external SCSI card reader is second hand place such as a local computer store or eBay.

SCSI for samplers dot com used to sell internal SCSI connector kit, just for MPC-2000 classics, but unfortunately the website, as well as business, is now officially closed.

The idea was to install extension SCSI cable to internal, from the external SCSI port, and use the hole for the SMPTE expansion board. I think it is clever idea, and it is safe method. I'm pretty sure that you could use more than one SCSI devices with the kit.

I actually did solder(!) to install a internal SCSI port to MPC-2000 classics, but I would not recommend it.

I already sold the modded MPC on ebay (I did not make any profit from it, since I replaced all the pots and fader, I ended up spending a lot of money and time to modding and fixing the MPC.)
Now I have MPC-2000XL, and I like it better than the classic over all, but I do miss classics' jog dial. (I am comparing with brand new XL's jog dial.)

You won't be able to find cheap SCSI CF readers in ebay, they'd go more than $100! (since they are so hard to find.) And not all Compact Flash cards are compatible with MPC anyway (stick with Sandisk Ultra CF cards, generic CF card don't work with MPC, most of the cases.)

My recommendation is get a used SCSI MO drive (Magneto Optics drive), instead of fragile ZIP drive. MPC-2000 OS officially supports MO drives.

MO never got its popularity it reserved outside of Japan, but I can tell you that it is one of the most reliable removable media ever made.

I think the hardest part is to find an inexpensive SCSI MO drive, (and USB MO drive, if you want exchange data between PC and MPC) but MO disks can be find cheaper than ZIP disks on ebay.
