MPC 1000 "Mode" button Issue

Hello and thanks for reading, I FINALLY received my mpc today from an eBay sale and am ecstatic! The first time I turned it on, which was an hour or so ago, I was able to load samples via usb and the "mode" button would lite up.

After transferring some .wav's and trying to navigate elsewhere, the "mode" button will no longer lite up when clicked. I even reset the whole MPC (holding erase while booting) and the mode button will still not lite up when pressed?!!

Any ideas? its super hindering my experience

Anyone have ANY advice? I just took the faceplate off to get a closer look. All of the buttons ans lights are fully intact and seem to be working, however the MODE button will not work / be lit when I turn it on?!!!

if it´s only the led that´s broke, you can solder in a new one.

The whole button will not register, preventing me from accessing alot of options. But the button initially worked when I first turned it on, now it wont. WTFFF

No connection or switches are broken but the MODE button wont work or lite up!!!!!!

it's broken... what else do you want us to tell you? you most likely need to replace the tact switch beneath the MODE button...

But doesnt a broken tact switch mean that there's no click noise when pushed? It clicks and the plastic surrounding is also flawless. And the mode button also worked RIGHT before I restored the mpc...

^ no, the noise have nothing to do with it.

and do it yourself, don't pay some goon monay to do something you could do yourself even if you had all thumbs and two left feet. go to radioshack, buy a soldering iron and some solder, find a replacement by searchign the forums (maybe someone will post the ebay link), order a handful of tact switches for pennies, and do the damn thing.

i said this before somewhere else - when a guitar string breaks, do you send the guitar back to the manufacturer to get it restrung? no, you do it yourself, because you're not a chump. you made the investment in the MPC, now learn the necessary upkeep and save yourself a boatload of money that you may never make back. for real.

Appreciate the knowledge, I just assumed the tact was something else. Can I get a confirmation on these bad boys working?

you could also try using some of that contact cleaner [such as deoxit] on the tact switch to see if you can bring it back to life... but that would probably only be a temporary solution in this case...

....Even though they are the right size, the tact switches they sell at Radio Shack are surface mount only (unless they upgraded their stock to through hole switches, I don't know). These will not work.

WAIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTT a minute. So I got the wrong ones? The only thing that was difference between the two was the ones I purchased had much shorter prongs than the default ones....there's still hope?? Yeah, those are pcb surface mount.

I'm not sure about the ebay ones cause the full specs aren't posted, but they say pcb mount style which tells me that they are probably surface mount. You want through-hole.

Specs are as follows:
