Mo Phatt Keys!

Whats better than the mo phatt keys for hip-hop production?
I wanna know what should I cop to compliment my MPC. I ant really a sample face type producer I like to create my melodies from scratch. get at me wit some input.

I have to say that I would personally compliment my setup with classic keys(?) or vintage keys(?) from the same series.

If your into hip hop you can use the lush key sounds to compliment and add to ya sound. - you could create jaydilla type shiz and loads of other sounds to layer on top and link up with your sequences from the MPC.

classic keys would help you get on some soulquarians type shiz - which in my opinion aint such a bad t'ing!!

which one is it?...vintage keys or classic keys?.....did you ever cop the 4000 again after the jacking?.....

i own the emu mp7...
the unit that has the the exact sounds of mo' phatt but in a
box with pads and a touchpad and BUKU filters/effects and arps.

i LOVE it.
i mean i really dont think that any other all-around sound units
can compete with this because you do get a LOT for the price.
i mean i know there is wayy better out there but FOR THE PRICE-the mo' phatt and mp7 are off the hook.
vintage keys is nice too.

Hmmm, It sounds to me that if you want to go from scracth, just get a Korg TRINITY.
NO longer made, but still supported since it uses the internals of the Trition (Which Korg will only stop maiking if they go out of business)
It uses the same sounds and is basically a Triton minus the sampler (this is very oversimplified, but thats basically what it is)

or maybe a Triton LE (basically this unit replaced the Trinity when they stopped makin' it)

a EMu Mo Phatt will cost 400 bucks. A Trinity will cost 800-1000 used and the Triton LE is what? like 1800 dollars? So basically for just over double what you pay for a sound module you can get a fully functioning keyboard that would be all you need.
so save up. When I started Djing many moons ago, I wasted about 400 bucks on some bunk decks. IF I had waited and saved, I'd have gotten my 12's for less (cost of the deck plus the 400 I wasted vs. cost of the decks). The trinity basically sounds the same as a Korg and that seems to be what has driven hip-hop since the late 1990's.
