HELP: Howto Hook/Setup MPC3000+S5000+MIDI Keyboard ?

Hi to all,
i am in a process of testing possible a purchase --- S5000 sampler

came across a wierd problem when recording into MPC3000
that sends MIDI to S5000 hooked to a MIDI keyboard controller

Problem : get strange phasing effect sound artifacts and slight pitch changes on
Raw Sample playback inside S5000

here is how i hooked S5000 to MIDI keyboard and MPC3000

Keyboard's MIDI OUT -----> MPC300 MIDI IN
MPC's MIDI OUT --------> AKAI S5000 MIDI IN

MPC3000 MIDI settings in MIDI page : Local Mode : ON Soft thru: ON



When i just hook MIDI keyboard directly into MIDI IN on S5000 there is no playback problem and the sample sound as it should .

So it must be something wrong in my MPC3000 MIDI settings ....?

anyone could help me out to hook these 3 mashines together correctly?

i got the same setup (with the usb option and recycle very nice ).
Make sure that the s 5000 is in multi mode!

The Miditrack-channel number on the mp and the midichannel(one of the multi channels)on the s5k should have the same number (and the sample/program has to be assigned in the multi).

After that i would check the midi page settings... on or off ....
I can t tell you my midi page settings because i m not át my setup at the moment.
The only time when the s 5k had a strange behaviour was when i got him in samplemode (and tried to trigger sounds over the sequencer).

i am trying still to mess with diff settings in MPC3000 MIDI page/....
and still get that strange midi loop playback phasing on AKAI S5000 sampler


anyone knows what is the correct MIDI cables and MIDI settings setup between the two and a MIDI keyboard controller?

Playback from the MIDI Controller Keyboard connected to MIDI IN of MPC3000 MIDI OUT of witch is connected to MIDI IN on S5000

In your case.

Keyboard as a MIDI controller for the S5000 "via the MPC3000" for purposes of recording and playing back events.

Fairly standard affair.

Indicates a setting problem between MPC3000 and S5000.

Perhaps ......

On the MAIN sequence window change the track TYPE to MIDI from DRUM.

In this instance. MIDI will be received and transmitted via MIDI ports only.

The SEQUENCER STEP EDIT functions for this track will now display events as MIDI types rather than DRUM pads.

Input to control the S5000 will need to be from the connected MIDI keyboard.

Found a soulution to phasing problem !

The secondary MIDI channel should be set to OFF
look on the main screen on the left side:
Ch: 1A_S3000 .... & 1A ( & secondary MIDI channel)
the " & 1A " should be set to OFF
