HOW DO I CONNECT MY MPC 2000XL TO LOGIC PRO 9?

I am trying to connect my mpc 2000xl to logic pro 9.
Using an edirol UR-80.
I am totally stumped as to how I do this.
Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of connection are you trying to make? Audio or Midi?

Once you figure that out, it starts to become obvious.

What are you trying to accomplish by 'connecting' them?

If you're trying to record the sounds out of the mpc, use audio cables from main out of mpc into edirol.
If you're trying to record the sequence, so you could maybe sequence logic synths/samplers, then use a midi cable.

I'm willing to bet you want to record your beats from the MPC. So go with the audio cables. Then just set up logic to receive on that channel, arm the track and hit record.

It can get a lot more complicated, but that will get sound into the machine.

I'm trying to make the MIDI connection so I can control logic drums through my MPC. How exactly do I do this??

It's technically supposed to be for the MPC4000 and logic 8 but it should be pretty much the same for you.

The answer to your actual question is, a midi cable from MPC midi OUT to your audio interface midi IN.

Then configure logic channels to respond to particular midi channels.
It's in the track properties window on the left hand side when you select a channel in arrange view. Configure each instrument to a different channel.
You might need to do this:
choose Settings > Recording, and under MIDI, select Auto demix by channel if multitrack recording.
if you are recording multiple channels at once.

Don't worry about sync yet. Just make sure Logic is receiving the midi information, then you can move on to sync.
