yeah and akai dont even seem to know what they are doing.. no sound examples/videos under 'documentation'

if they only knew what their customers really wanted they would have at least put out a low-pass filter and maybe a separate bit-reducer [lo-fi] effect as well...

They didn't even bother changing them, layout nor changing the descriptions much. It's not even just that one either, many seem repackaged. I wasn't interested in these but wow.

yeah I mean, for one I can say I would bet not a single one of those pedals were their design. guaranteed they grabbed already existing designs. secondly, those pedals are cheap as dirt to make, and you know they are going to put a price tag on those because they will attempt to sell it next to those boutique amps in those niche stores.


there has been better gear out there already, but until we see a price IMO these wouldn't even be a consideration... as for sound, that is something you need to do in person with the unit you plan on buying.

There have been guitar pedals for many decades, so why get excited about Numark guitar pedals?

If you want decent-sounding guitar pedals look for Lovetone and Electro Harmonix amongst many others. If you want an uber chorus then try and find a Boss CE-1 or a cheap RS-09.
Sorry for being negative, but I have no faith in the quality of Nu-kai products at all.

a friend has let me use his unit 10 years ago for a week or 2... that's dope
he wanted to sell me the unit but later he changed his mind, unfortunately

never tried this

exactly... that original space echo is bad ass. the stuff you can do with that and the sounds you can get from them are not even the same as other echo machines.

the upkeep is a bit high... but worth it.

I have the boss pedal. It actually sounds quite good. I know the guitarist from Radiohead has traded in his original unit for one, because he was sick of the thing breaking down during tours. I've seen quite a few originals on the auctions here is Japan for around $400, but I just don't have the time or money to deal with the upkeep. I've actually heard of quite a few people A/B'ing the units, and, surprisingly, many people say the difference is fairly minimal.

For another amazing delay I highly recommend the Carbon Copy. True analog, sounds amazing. Very different vibe from the Space Echo - dark and heavy. I couldn't choose between the two, so have kept them both. I love delay and reverb effects.

the TAPE ECHO effect which comes built-in on the BOSS [and later Roland] SP series samplers [as of the SP-303] is a lot better than you would expect as well... it reacts & sounds pretty damn authentic when tweaking the effects knobs in real-time...
