How old 4k is by serial #?

Just wondering is there a way to tell when(year) your MPC 4000 was manufactured by serial number?

good question, looks like a stumper! i'm curious myself now...

well Akai probably kept records at one point, but they probably lost them by now...

i cut my MPC 2000 open and was amazed to find some Trilobites which upon Carbon dating, proved without a doubt that my mpc was 6 million years old.

You quote me wrong, they found a Raptor inside my grandma.
