It's not a Roland 8800, you have Aksys which does what is needs to. Wat would VGA bring to it?

I have an 8800,the ability to sequence and edit sample's on a big screen is second to none.

I think we all can sequence and edit samples with the big screen of the mighty MPC4000.

stupid statement if your comparing a 21' flat screen with the might little 4000 screen.I'm quite sure if you could connect a monitor to the 4000 you would,but, then again maybe you would'nt

If you look at things in a bigger scope, you'd see that the benefits of a computer coupled with the 4k is just as good as having any size of vga/lcd or plasma for that notion (personally, I'm using a 32" hdtv monitor).

If your daw works like a charm and you have ak.sys on it, it's about working your editing programs such as soundforge 10 or anything that will manipulate that sample and put it back on the 4k's hard drive.

There's so much power that can be taken advantage of if you just use the tools put out there for you to make it happen.

true dab,but I wish I could connect a monitor directly to the 4k for sequencing as well as editing.if you had a MV 8800 and get use to that screen it's hard to go back to the little screen they have on the machine,I don't even look at it no more.AKAI should have done that with the 5000,I might have got one.but the 4k is the best one in my book.

Basically, you don't need a 21" screen to make music! A VGA connection don't make my music. If I wanted a 21" monitor, I would have bought an MV8800!

What's up with the MV series. I know it's time fore a new MV. I thought about getting one after I purchased the Fantom G. And now that think about it, it's time for a new Fantom! It must be economy related. You can't find an MV in stores. But, there are a lot on eBay.

I hated on the MV when it first came out,but traded for a brand new one,got into it and liked it. it's dope for hiphop.good filter's,nice effects and has a warm sampling engine.I thought they were trying to be like the 4k,but it's totally different. the mpc 5000 tried to copy some of it's idea's(with the internal synth) which suck's! I hear rumor's of a MV 9000,from a real reliable source.after the motif xf and now korg kronos roland will have to come out with something that can keep them in the race.I'm sure they will. ebay and craigslist has more MP's posted than anything 2xl $250-$300 as you well know.but do what works for you.just learn your machine and drop heat.

well I hope they dont re-box the same MV like they did with the 8800. I also hope they use better quality sliders and pads we are used to. the vga output is nice, I hope the continue that tradition and maybe even something with high resolution?

better pads is a must, 2 midi ins -4 outs,8 outs built in and I'm good.

I completely agree with all of those points.

I did actually mean better pads, but some people really like the MV pads. okay I will say they are not the worst but my gripe with them is they look square but it's like the actual pad is the size of a nickel so you need to make sure you hit in the center.

The MV8800 is not list as one of Roland's current products. There must be another one coming or it's been dropped.

yeah kinda like how the mpc isn't one of akai's current products...

we can only wish though. I dont think they thought out the 5000 well enough before jumping into it. I mean not to say it isn't good, but we all know it should have at least out-spec-ed the previous models (including one from like 5 years earlier)

if we get a new mpc, I hope it will be done correctly... same as the MV, and who ever else makes a standalone production thing like that.
