MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Long story short: After reading the zero length midi note problems and the random resets problems, I have decided to keep the MPC2500 and get Maschine. For a fraction of the cost of a 5000, I can have more power and integrate it into a DAW. Numark have not updated the 5000 firmware in years and no announcements at NAMM 2011. Even Akai never had a dialog with their users like NI do. OK, nothing is perfect but NI would never continue to let a product to trash your work, not sync and leave of easily achieveable programming left undone.

I love my MPC2500 for all the flaws that it really is. But I won't give Numark more money.

It's all just a matter of personal preference in my opinion. Just figure out how much you really NEED the extra features of the 5000 since you already have the 2500. You might be just getting a bunch of features that you don't even need. Also, more features does not mean necessarily equal better beats. Plenty of sick production can be done on any MPC model as long as your comfortable with it. Just my opinion ;)

"I own a 5000 so I co-sign, I used to have a 2500, 2500 is garbage"

 Post a link! I'm sweating with excitement to hear some MPC5000 twin tower INFERNO beats since your MPC2500 crippled your creativity so much! hahahaaaa

Speaking of Donkeys, me as OP who swore never to give Numark any more money.. Err, I've got an MPC5000 now

My mate got one and I had a chance to try all the 2500 bugs and prove they were fixed. Plus the big new features and those little workflow touches - like make a new folder while saving. Anways, I'm sold and got one! These 5000s are very well built, no big bugs, sound great and are the bigger better brother of the 2500. It is so much fun to use and I get to smile with simple things like Shift+PAD to select a track. DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY COMPLAINT POSTS AROUND HERE, the MPC5000 is worth selling your old one. Too much BS or just people trying to convince themselves they don't want one. :D
