yeah I was thinking that... I mean at least he didn't wind up with a mirage rack....

He probably got the machine because he wanted to experience what some of his favourite producers used. a lot of people try gear for that reason.

I had a nightmare about buying a old sampling keyboard last night... it required a plug ive never seen before, and they didnt have internet in the store for me to look into it, but wanted to try something different, and didnt want to leave it there in case someone else picked it up at the cheap price. i have a sick addiction

Well I am hoping to combine the ASR10 with my MPC, but I'm still figuring out how I would benefit from this. The 2000xl has a great sound, so I don't NEED the ASR10 sound, I could use it but i dont need it. I chop up records much better when I can see an actual waveform, alot of people feel if they dont see it then they use only their ear but I find using a combination of both eyes/ears creates the best chops. Not having SCSI really limited me with my ASR also because I could only get my samples off vinyl really. How do people think chopping is easy on it? Maybe I do it wrong but copying waveforms across the keyboard gets pretty cumbersome to me, I like the MPC's way of doing things.

Linking up the 2kxl and Asr-10 is so easy. The Asr can do many things your 2kxl can't do. Not knowing how to pair it up or the lack of scsi is no excuse to not be having it in use. First of all, if you sampled 30-40 seconds of a record, you can do non-destructive chopping and be able to save it to a single floppy. Idk man. I just don't understand the how you could say what's the big deal with the Asr after you purchased it. That's a question you should of asked yourself before you bought it, or not asked it at all after you purchased it. Learn the piece, and you'll learn to appreciate it.

What I am wondering is when I sample from my TT to the 2000xl do I need both plugs to go into the Record Left + Right? I only have one plug basically so I just put it into the left side but then I don't hear anything out of the right side of the headphones I'm using. Is there a way to record it in mono so I got both channels working? (thats what I did on my ASR10)

don't buy no more toy's until you learn the one you have. it's not the machine,it's the man using it.either your in the wrong bizness or lack common sense...

MG,

my suggestion would be to use the ASR for stuff its better for. For example, I don't really see a point to chop samples on the asr when I have an MPC right there in front of me. So for drums and chopped samples use the MPC

Use the ASR for anything complex you wanna do with a sample. Looping, creating chromatic instruments, complex modulation.

That'll also help you figure out whether you should keep the ASR, because if your music doesn't incorporate any of that then you will end up not using it.
