Hello Everybody

Recently purchased a 2000xl, i'd like to know how i can use the pads to play a synth, for example, in Ableton 8. I've got 2 midi cables going from the ins/outs on the mpc to the ins/outs on my maudio 2496 sound card. i turned midi clock on on the mpc and mmc etc

not much is happening so far...

I've searched the forum but haven't had much luck finding the answer so far.

any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated....i know its probably a simple answer but apart from plugging a usb midi keyboard into ableton my experience if midi is pretty limited

Many Thanks

Sean

you need to send the midi via a channel, and those channels must be the same on the playing and receiving side..
i dont have experience with this, but id guess you need to set the channel of your vst instrument to match the channel you're sending out from the mpc.. (idk if i worded this properly though)

how do i select a midi channel to send from on the mpc...just sent through all the shift numbers but couldn't see anything.

in ableton i can select the midi channel to receive on 1 through 16 so that part shouldnt be an issue.

cheers for your help

you're basically talking about why the mpc was invented.

midi channels are set on the main page and are set for each TRACK. (bottom left corner)
change DRUM to MIDI, then next to it select the channel.

if you ask questions like this, the most you're going to get is "read the manual!"

peace
