MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai
By gonche Wed Jan 26, 2011 8:24 pm
I would really like the get hold of an MPC5000, but I have read alot of people who are either happy or in need of some bug fixes.

One idea to highlight these issues to Akai -> Why not create a Facebook page with the bug list and feature requests.

Post the link on their own fan page, they wont be able to ignore this type of publicity and maybe they will be forced to fix their flagship MPC, whilst supporting and advertising their new IPad styled products... it may get noticed by magazines and music tech websites and if it gets coverage then we might get an updated robust MPC5000.

Just my two cents.

I want to see some honest opinions on what really needs updating on the 5000 before I spend my cash. Also I will need to buy new in case I need to get a refund, but thanks for the offer.

Ive created a community page -> MPC 5000 OS3.0 Campaign

The page name is the only title or name Facebook would accept.

If you have plenty of info, for example bug list and feature request, PM me and ill add you as an admin.

seems like a lot of mpc 5000 users are newbs at least to this forum, not necessarly mpcs, but most likely that too so they dont know any better or have anything to compare to...there is also a lot of dick sucking going on around these parts of the forum (5000) to justify their hard worked for money spent on piece of crap...i had chance to swoop up second hand 5000 for as low as 1100-1200 couple of times and almost pulled the trigger, but there seems to be too many problems with it at least at this stage of the OS.

Totally appreciate your honesty. I guess im a newb to this forum, but because I care about the history of the 'MPC' and I am looking to purchase what I believe is an amazing machine, but I want to trust what I hear, about bugs, or no bugs, so to push things forward, I thought I would take it upon myself to create a page to air or advertise the views of the members of this forum or users of the MPC 5000 that would like to give their two cents and advertise it on a social network site page, rather than people ignoring the opinions or reviews of the bugs, features of the hardware with out anyone beyond this forum knowing about it.

If I dont get any feedback towards the facebook page, ill close it. But I would like to hear everyones opinions and reasons why their should be a new OS even if its been hammered. I emailed Akai tonight and recieved a quick response from a support rep, and he said ->

Thanks for contacting us and your interest in the MPC5000!
As far as new updates, we do not hear of what’s coming in advance but only once they become available on our website.
Your request is important to us, and I have logged your comments as an official request. These requests are delivered weekly to our development team.

So even if no one is interested in a FB page, make sure you send over emails too [email protected]

Gonche, I commend your efforts! We need people like you.

Im not on facebook but I think I can help. First I dont know too much about how facebook works but making it fansite where everybody can view sounds ideal.

Lets start off first with a new buglist here. There should be a few threads, one for confirming if its a bug with multiple users. Another list with only the bugs. The confirmed bugs should go to your facebook site.

apparently this forum is full of people like this now,
people who have never owned a 5k, ... people who trashed it based on the opinions of about 3-4 people our there who got crappy machines, ... when there are many many more who have machines that have no problems.

let me see, ... people like konc3pt who have never owned a 5k know more about the 5k than people like me who have owned a 5k since they came out, ... and have always owned something either a 2000xl, or 1000, or mv8000, etc.

yes konc3pt, ... you know way more than me, especially from the last page where someone hated on me because i didn't say, "this machine is full of bugs", ... i didn't say it because it is simply not true with my machine.

i'm about to finish my second full length album on this thing, ... and i have definitely absolutely had no problems what-so-ever.

oh, ... i get it, ... since the majority say it's crappy, and that same majority doesn't even own one, ... it still means it must be crappy, ... all because of that one idiot who for about 4 months re-posted the same exact problem on every forum page about only one machine making it look like there were so many people posting problems about so many machines.

this forum has officially been infested with mole rats, ... i'm probably going to follow suit with the other 5k owners who have no problems and stop returning here, .... they came to the same conclusion a long time ago, ...
it's just not worth dealing with these completely ignorant new people who post like crazy based on nothing.

You guys need to chill out. For the most part my unit has been problem free. My computer crashes more than the MPC. There are a few things that need to be worked out and thats what we are trying to accomplish.

As for being new to this forum, ish I have had multiple names since I got here. I have been coming to this website since it started with only a 2000, 3000 and a 60 forum. I have been coming here since most people knew you could put 32 mg ram in a MPC 3000. I have owned almost every MPC and my preference is the 5000.

My last forum name was GOLFZEROSAFARI before that I forget, its been a long time. I am not new to any of this.

Thanks, appreciate the recognition.

Lets not get side tracked and it would be good to filter out all the chaff, so lets compile a decent bug list.

Anyone care to start.
