Note Variation Slider

Is the NOTE VARIATION slider suposed to be a little rough? It moves and does its job but it doesn't feel as smooth as a slider you would find on a mixer. Is this normal?

its a very easy fix if you'd like to replace it.

easiest potential solution would be to clean it with some electronics cleaner/lube. NOT WD40. it has to be special electronics lube or it could corrode the thing further.

to clarify: spray the inside with some electronics cleaner and then work it back and forth a bunch. it's a temporary fix but could last for some time.

I broke mine off about 8 years ago and never got it fixed. Does anyone do anything "special" with theirs that i should be using it for (other than scrolling end points etc.).

Just wondering if i should get it fixed?

If you have the XL you can use it in trim mode to chop samples instead of spinning the wheel all day . I just got another XL w/ a broken slider that a friends about to fix next week . I'll take pics as he does it and post 'em .

it's kind of neat to apply it to sample length (decay) on things like hi-hats...but like you mine sat broken for years and I never missed it. I recently fixed it and have barely even touched it.

It is also fun on the pitch if you are inclined towards the noise school.

I do sway a little more to the noise school these days but probably use other programs for the fiddly stuff now.

Nice one... looks a little too fancy for me to do (not crash hot with a solder).

Mine snapped off the arm... but from what i recall if i stuck a paddlepop stick into the slot i could still use it... so i would need to replace the whole unit yeah?

yes, unless you want to "stick a paddlepop stick into the slot" everytime.
