Hi guys i am new to this site and would like to start by saying hello and thanx for all the information posted by you guys your awesome, i need to know a couple of things and i can understand how frustrating it can be when someone asks a question they could have easily found the answer for if they just searched in the vast amount of information on this site but my problem is a little more in depth than that i have spoken to akia about this and they do not have the information i need as the product is now reaching the 30 yr old mark (they told that to me them selves akia customer support)

what i need to know about are the storage options availible i have seen hardrive installations like this one
http://www.mpc2000xl.com/Internalhd.htm

in this post they mention various sollutions one that catches my eye is an 8gb scandisc and they have a link also please read through
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/rap-hip- ... sions.html

to cut a long story short i am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to hardware and i need people who are the same please dont post silly comments wether 2000 is better than 1000 thats not the issue here i wanna know what i can put in this machine now that it is 2011

all the best dave

    Don't believe anything Akai tell you
The Mpc2000XL is only 12 years old.
Even the first MPC (The MPC60) is only 24 years old.

-----------------------------------

As Jacpot say's, the card drive is the best way to go if you can find one. These can be either internal (SCSI or IDE) or external (SCSI).

External Hard drive is another option that comes up for sale occasionally.

oh, what he meant was... he moved the thread you created to the correct section of the forum and also he was saying you aren't the first person to wonder what storage options are available for the 2000xl therefore there are plenty more threads relating to your question. have a look around the forum and you will see.

yeah grab yourself a card reader... you could even try out ebay. search for ide/atapi to cf adapter... they dont come in a case or a bracket but you could possibly make that yourself if you dont care so much about looks. a few years ago I bought one on there for less than $1.50 including shipping and that worked great. the only downside was I took a broken floppy drive and gutted it so I would have something to mount inside the mpc.
