hey there...
as with appearently many of you, my mpc buttons (not pads) start acting up and it's become nearly impossible, to use some of them (especially the down/left etc buttons). after disassembling the front panel of my mpc, i could fix some buttons with help of a pretty usefull youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ5ScgSAK4E), anyhow i had to discover, that in some cases the actual tact switches (the little buttons on the board) seem to be broken. can anybody help me out on the following:

1) which takt switches can i use? there must be some standard, or?

2) how do i disassemble to board in order to be able to solder new tact switches to it?

i'd be gracious if anybody could more or less walk me through this. i'm panicing to break the thing cause i need it all the time.
thanks in advance,
benni

try spraying tacts with DeoxIT conector cleaner.. when my buttons started acting up i used deoxit and they work like new.. if deoxit doesnt work than your tacts are really bad.. just try deoxit it is a simple and cheap solution.. i used it today.. buy it at radio shack

hey thanks alot... i'll give it a try.

about the DeoxIT - i am german (and live in germany). any idea how this translates? it is like normal contact spray or something? and at last: do i spray it on (top) of the button or do i need to unmount the board and spray it on the connections on the bottom side?

edit:
oh i just found out, that i can actually get that deoxIT here in germany :). now only how do i use it?

i sprayed just a little bit like 1 push on top of the round button part and the square silver part, let it start to bubble.. then pressed the button a few times.. turned it on with the case open to test it and it worked..

I was a bit worried about firing up the MPC before the solution had completely evaporated. I guess that's not an issue, eh?
I've been sitting here with the face plate of my MPC detached for like 24 hrs now.
