Hi, I just bought a MIDI keyboard and a Roland JV 1010 sound module.
I'd like to sequence what I play on my keyboard with the MPC. I tried every connection and it doesn't work.
My keyboard only has Midi out, so I'm not sure if I can do what I want. If anyone has and idea... thanks!

Keyboard midi out -> MPC midi in
MPC midi out -> JV midi in

your mpc tracks have to be set to output on a particular midi channel and your jv sounds have to be set up to receive on the same channels.

Check the manuals on how to do that.

I tried every connection and it doesn't work.

Obviously not ;].

So I spent like 2 hours trying to connect it but it still doesn't work, I don't understand...
I did those connections: Keyboard midi out -> MPC midi in
MPC midi out -> JV midi in

I changed all the MIDI channels to 1 in the MPC, the JV and the keyboard but it doesn't work. If anyone knows how to do it, any help would be really appreciated!(I got an MPC 2000)

Each track of the MPC is supposed to be set to a midi channel AND a midi output port.

Like, 1A for channel 1 on port A.

Try it one step at a time. Since the JV is probably going to be the most difficult, I'd say do that first.

Create a new sequence in MPC and set a track to output MIDI on 1A (this is done in the main screen, not the midi setup).

That's all the setup you have to do in the MPC...the rest is in the JV.

Now hit the pads and make the JV make noise.

It's a very basic operation, so check very basic things:
do you have power going to all devices?
do you have it where you can hear the JV?
do you have the midi cable in the right ports (A vs B)?
is the JV set up to receive on the right channel?
does the patch set up on the JV on this particular channel actually make noise?

Once you've got that working (MPC->JV), then move on to the next part of the equation (Keyboard->MPC) which is almost fool proof (PLUG IT IN).
