After much much grief and endless troubles and tribulations I have finally gotten rid of my mpc5000! I am going back to either the 2500 with JJOS (what I used to have) or the 1000 with JJOS. I purchased this machine about a month after it came out and paid $2,500.00 for it. the machine broke twice in the almost 3 years I had it and I had to pay $400 to repair it the second time, all in all I had put about 3k into this machine as it also had the ram expansion and after 3 tries the machine finally ended up selling for $1,300.00. that is some severe devaluation.

Regardless, I am very happy to finally get rid of it, I feel liberated. Good luck to everyone who still has an mpc5k I wish you the best of luck and I hope mine was just a bad batch or something.

Peace out mpc5k forum!

farewell.
see you at the grammys.

you mean the Tony awards? and so your saying you sold someone your broke azz mpc?
By oneday2one Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:22 am
you mean just less than 2 1/2 years.
i bought mine when they first came out too, and paid the big $$.

fortunately for me, mine has never broken. as a matter of fact, .... i can't even remember mine ever crashing, ... the only time was in os 1.01 when i kept re-recording too many hd tracks, ... since os 2.0, i've never had a crash.
everything works perfectly.

i love my 5k, .... best sequencer on planet earth, ... better sequencer than any software daw out there, ... and yes, i 'do' mean the 'timing'. absolutely the best. ... the sequence is "sooo" much tighter than the mpc 1000, mpc 2000xl, and mv 8000, ...... i don't have to try multiple times to get the notes to stick where i want them to, ... 98% of the time i never even have to edit anything, .... so daw's with the extensive editing abilities 'need' them because the tightness of their sequencer just sucks compared to the 5k, .... regardless, the 5k has all those same editing features on it's huge graphical interface.

great freaking synth, ... the more i learn about it, the more i can control it and create with it, ... that synth will stay with me for a very long time, ... i'd never get rid of it, .... beautiful sound.

great machine, ... i absolutely love the 8 q-links and 4 sliders, ... elegant physical control, .. everything is of such a high quality

it's so beautiful to look at, .... the screen is so big, .... i love the screen.

i have made by far the best music i have ever made with this machine, ... and yes, i have owned many of the past mpc's and mv's.

i am so totally satisfied with my purchase, ... best purchase i ever made.
better purchase than my moog little phatty stage II, and that in itself was an incredible purchase that will last me a lifetime.

my name is oneday2one by the way.

props to you man, just dont be surprised as 2500 build quality is identical to 5k...but stable OS and JJOS is a good enough reason to make the switch

Most of the people who diss the 5k haven't even used one. There just mad cause they can only buy a used 2000 classic.
I love my 5k and haven't had any problems with it.

Sorry, but my 5000 is heated HOT!!! I have owned two 3000s,a 2500 and now my 5000 I bought mine with OS 2.0 already installed and it's been a beast so far.
My abvice is when the lastest and greatest drops wait awhileto buy they got some
Monster workstations coming out (like the new korg kronos)I want that bad but I'm still gonna wait for it to be a proven solid work horse. So just wait everything has bugs and glitches first out so just wait.

well I dont think so, the complaints seem to be coming from people who had problems with theirs (like this thread for example)

also, anyone can grab a visa card and walk out a store with a 5000 unless you're under age... but one thing you gotta admit though.... stuff that was made back when the 2000 classic came out wasn't built the same as they are now or when the 5000 came out. companies have built in redundancy in their products... which IMO should be illegal.

The build quality isn't as good as older gear. They have to keep the price down to stay comp with all the software and other harware companys. Not too many people are going to buy a 5,000.00 sampler when they can use FL studio, machine, reason, logic.....if it's just a hobby. ( Like most of us here )

What drives me nuts about the 5000 haters are the ones who spread rumors that haven't used one. There are many of us who own a 5k that haven't had any problems. As faw as bug or things breaking...... There are topics in every section with someone having a problem with their MPC.

I don't care what anybody uses to make their music. As long as they enjoy it, that's all that really matters.

I think it's more like the other way around, most people who own 5k never used or tried other mpcs and dont realize they stuck with doo doo so they tell themselfs they love it

I can tell you exactly what I like and dont about each MPC from EXPERIENCE. Actually, I think the 5000 is the most underrated MPC.

Im having trouble recreating bugs that I posted here. lol It's pretty solid champ.

Why would anybody be stuck?
