Hooking Up Your Mpc To Your keyboard

I was wondering is there a way to hook up your keyboard up your mpc and play keys while the mpc sequence is playing.
Recently Ive been sampling from my keyboard into my mpc but I wanted to know if it was possible to play along with the sequence and record instead of sampling into the mpc.

Yes and no.

To get AUDIO into the mpc, which can then be treated as a sample, you have to do it form the SAMPLE screen.

However, via midi, you can either have your mpc 'play' your keyboard, or you can use your keyboard to 'play' samples already loaded into the mpc.

It's really great once you get the hang of it.

To do what you originally asked, make sure you have a sample of a key in your mpc as an autochromatic program.
Now hit play on the sequencer, load that program into a track, plug your midi keyboard in, and play.

There is really no 'set up' that needs to be done to get that to work...it's dead easy.

You can get a lot more complex though, for instance having your mpc trigger your keyboard, which is a lot more flexible.

To do what you originally asked, make sure you have a sample of a key in your mpc as an autochromatic program.
Now hit play on the sequencer, load that program into a track, plug your midi keyboard in, and play.

Take any sample in your mpc.
Create an autochromatic pgm from it.
Assign that program to a track.
Plug in midi keyboard.
Play.

The Keyboard will trigger whichever program you have selected.
If you sample a piano at 'c', and then create a default auto-chromatic program, you will have a (crappy) piano laid out across the keyboard/the pads of the mpc.

You can then use this to play keys.

I don't think that's the best option, but it is what you originally asked.
Get that working and then we can get more in depth.

ps. if you are on a classic 2000 (not XL) the autochromatic thing wont work. If you are on an older MPC, it's time to switch to MIDI, so let us know and we'll get going down that road.
