If you pour a can of Coke into the vents it gives you all the BPMs

can't you load the sample up without patch phrasing it, then get the BPM from the time stretch window if you know how many beats are in it.

ROFL

how about resampling it and using tap tempo feature on your mpc or does that not work in os 2.0 ?

yeah it does, but tap tempo is inaccurate sometimes man. that's why i asked if there was a way to find the original bpm, because this guy on youtube mentioned it but never really got around to explain how to find the original BPM or tempo.

For a loop.

Truncate the sample to correct start and end points.

Loop it in the sequencer by ear, use the tap tempo to get close than adjust.

After you find the original tempo go and patch phrase your sample.

in the 4000 you can just load your bars in, go to sample page then regions, then bpm, set you're number of beats and it will tell you exact BPM

All hail the 4000!!! :P :P

It's much easier in 5000. Go to where you want to time stretch. It tells you the BPM from the sample you want to change it from. Done!

Sometimes I make a 2 bar loop out of a sample and drop it in a sequence and jog wheel the bpm of the sequence until it matches the tempo of the sample. It should loop without space at the end of the sequence or cut the sample off before the end of the sample. Hope that makes sense.

How about , make a 4bar drum pattern. Load a sample. Pitch it till it locks. Loop it after its pitched. Chop it. Play it by ear so it has natural swing , and bounce. If YOUR sample pattern wont work , adjust the bpm of the drum pattern, play your sample pattern until YOUR pattern loops. Its not that hard. All this timestretch , tap tempo , blah blah blah are just a waste of your time. Hiphop is raw , it has grit , it has bounce , and it is not perfect. If you really want to do it right. Tempo map your 4bar sample in a daw first. Make a drum pattern , load sample , pitch it till it "locks" then chop it to pads , mute groups ,and mono program.
