I am using an mpc 2500 with jjos2xl and ableton hooked up via midi using the correct way stated earlier in this thread.

All is cool apart from this, ok, say I am creating a drum track using a kit from ableton but sequencing in my mpc, so I can see the drums on the screen of my mpc, then lets say I realised one of the hi hats is off and I want to scroll to it and delete just that one hi hat, it deletes anything and everything that I scroll over.

thanks..

Don't hold down F6 (Delete) while you're scrolling. Scroll to your desired location first, then press F6.

Also, this is a JJ OS issue, not an Ableton issue, so you'll probably get more help in the JJ OS forum.

Just created a new YouTube account to do tutorial videos on how to make beats using Ableton Live.

This is just a test run video i did real quick. Better quality and more in depth videos will be coming soon.

Stay tuned...

Don't double post.

That's what I think.

The other identical post has been deleted, as a regular around here you should know better.

All i can say is WOW!!!!!! :D I picked up Live 7 from a friend over a year ago. (he tried it for 2 days and didnt like it so he continued on with logic. He sold it to me for less than half what he paid. I was blown away by its workflow.... but my single core amd pc wasnt having it lol. Well im now officially on board the Ableton train now with my new quad core pc. My MPC1kxl (jjos2xl) is still my main weapon of choice but using it in conjuction with LIVE .... I compare it to knight rider where kit (my mpc) was dope in the beginning but was even doper when they added all the turbo boost and weapons after he was ate up by the acid bath lol mpc1kxl and ableton = "suped up" KIT I have Live 7 now and and since the time i bought this, live 8 has been released. Im thinking that i will stick with this and maybe explore upgrading when 9 comes out. I guess me diving further into the program will answer any upgrade questions i will have............ And still geeked that i opened up 5 instances of omnisphere with ease. lol my old pc would have fainted lol

Oh snap! I remember when kit got beat up and they upgraded it! HAHAHHA. Im gonna try to find that episode. Wasnt there also an evil k.i.t.?

I just upgraded from Live 5 to 8. I fly stuff back and fourth from the mpc 5000. I love Abletons workflow but the mpc sequencers are untouched.

is it possible to extract individual tracks in live to use in other live projects... example I got sample chopped up and arranged on track 7 project ASDF but I wanna use it in different project FDSA that I've already started..

Yup. Open up the live set you want to import the track into. In the browser, navigate to the set you wanna grab the track out of. You'll see the live set has a little arrow next to it. Click that arrow to show the contents of the set. It'll show all the tracks in that set. Grab the desired track and drop it in.

Alternately you could open up the first set, drag the track out to the browser to save it, then open up the second set and drop it in. I do that a lot. That allows you to do stuff like make a track with the perfect effects chain for vocals or samples or whatever, and then save it as a template. Or save an instrument track with your favorite bass sound/drumset/etc. and all the effects ready to go. Or save a track that's set up to record from a certain soundcard input. Or save a MIDI track with your favorite drum patterns. Your imagination is the limit.

You can use instrument racks and effects racks in a similar manner, creating presets with your favorite sounds or effects chains.

You can do a lot with these two features.

Naaaah. I used to use the re-pitch.. Now I just use Complex Pro. Still can pitch it up or down in that warp mode...
