Macbook specs:
"Optical digital audio input is S/PDIF format and uses a standard Toslink cable with a Toslink mini-plug adapter, accepting up to 24-bit stereo and 44.1-96kHz sampling rate.".

There's no need to sync if you're recording only stereo out, and if you want to multitrack then you need to use the 8 outs and get an audio interface.

The Stereo 96 ADC has S/PDIF output via TOSLINK cable (optical) and you can sync via this along with sending the audio down the same cable, ideally with the Mytek as master clock. So, it should work if your Mac has likewise inputs. What about DAC duties though?
