track out problems to interface

i just bought a new interface ( saffire pro 40 ) so i can track out 8 from the MPC 2500 to the 8 inputs in the pro 40 into Logic.
but the interface doesn't receive any signal from the MPC at all - do i need to router the sound out somehow or something.
i succeeded to slave the MP to my DAW ( Logic 9 ) through the interface but no tracking at all.
i called the support for the pro 40 and he ran some test and we came to the conclusion that the interface wasn't the problem.
im new to this computer stuff, its been me,my records and my MP - till now.

oh ye, if someone knows - when i get this ish to work, do i only need create 8 audiotracks in Logic and hit rec and the 8 tracks from the MP will be recorded separately in Logic or do i need to something else.

You do need to route out the sound.

What kind of cabling do you use?
Have you set your individual outputs?

... have you read the manual? Start with studying the nice picture on page 6: "Connecting MPC2500 to External Audio/MIDI Device", then proceed to Chapter 14: Mixer, page 91 - Setting the output for the sample.

i did that.
i have connected the 1 out put on the MP the 1 in put on the interface - 2 to 2, 3 to 3 and so on up to all 8.
i have done 8 drum tracks and sent them out - tested both as pairs and separately.
i have set all the channels on the interface to receive from each input separately. - no action at all.
one time i got the third channel to move somehow - still no sound but the meter was moving.
when i set the interface to send to my DAW that signal died to - even when i set it back to receive from the channel.

by the way - im using all new balanced audio 1/4 audio cables.

Hey, not sure if this is off the mark. But, you have to assign the individual samples to outputs 1-8. Otherwise sound just comes out the left/right output.

thats what i tried to say with....

i meant that track one and two going out as 1/2 & 1/2 and 1 & 2 and so on - you know what im trying to say.
or did you mean something else.

Yeh, think it get it. Maybe plug headphones into the 1/2 out and see if any sound comes out? Plug an ipod into the interface and see if that gets sound to the computer?

Do you have the software monitoring checkbox checked in Logic..?
It's in your Preferences, Audio, should be under where you select your interface and around the 24-bit recording chcekbox.

On a side note, calling one tech support and having them diagnose the problem is not always accurate. Companies like to point fingers at eachother. I had an issue with a Motu product, a brand new G5, and Logic several years ago and every company blamed the other... just sayin'
