Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hello all,

I just recently got a 4000, in pretty bad shape I might add, but got it cheap.....had bad hd, almost no screws holding it together and no ram...

I got it running, but am having this issue 2 nights in a row...

I have one program for drums, program 1

one for guitar part program 2

Now, when I am playing the sequence, in the mute screen, and for any screen for that matter, program 2, the guitar part just stops playing.

If I stop and roll to those tracks, hit the pads nothing happens..

I have found that if I hit the program button and go to assign the samples are there and then the pads start playing the samples and then everything works...

Is this a bug?

What could be wrong with it..

I have not re installed the OS, but I have new RAM, and new HD...

Please Help.... Very frustrating, I really hope it is not user error...

I might add that last night I had the same thing happen with a drum program that just decided to not play anymore...

I think you mean you hope it is user error-and its not the machine lol.I have a feeling that its fine but youve got to set it up in the main screen. Not next to mine now but choose programme 1 or 2 ect in the main screen for each separate track.Ive had similar panics that took me a while to understand. The manual can be downloaded from the akai site.If you want the service manual you can pm me your email. Some one who s closer to there machine could shed some more light.

Did you record any TRACK MUTES in the sequence by mistake? I did that a few time and drove myself crazy until I figured it out.

Are you set up to monitor a program or a multi?

Can't remember which screen right now, but there is an option somewhere.

It makes all the difference...
