Hey you all,
Been having one or two problems with the old MPC2000XL recently. It's been pretty cold in the lock-up recently and I've been having to switch on the MPC and 'warm it up' so to speak, or when I try to load from my internal ZIP drive this comes up:
Error at 0000:BFF2
And then the sampler crashes.
As I said I've been switching it on on arrival and leaving it and this seems to do the trick, however, I find it kind of strange that the machine is affected by the cold like this. I'm in Northern Spain not Antarctica!
Almost had a nervous breakdown yesterday though. Allow me to explain:
In the load page this comes up when I try to load up certain ALL files:
DISK IS FULL!
Then when I switch back to the main screen:
Error at 0000:7A59
And then it crashes!!!
The ZIP disk is almost full. There was 1.9MB left on it and I wanted to save a short sample before calling it a day. I tried to save it but it said that the disk was full. Ok, fair enough. So, I deleted one or two erroneous files to make a bit of space (in any case there is now less free space on the disk, only 0.2MB???) and now this happens!!! The worst thing is, it is my last five ALL sequences which are, without trying to sound cocky, 'de puta madre' (as we say here). I can see the files on the disk but can't load them up and I am unable to make any use of them. Why should this have happened? I'm not sure what the problem is. Probably the disk is broken, however, I'm hoping that one of you has experienced a similar problem and can give me some advice, good or bad. Being an obsessed and dedicated musician, I am literally in pain at the moment. The loss of these sequences represents hours and hours of good work. One more thing, disk error also comes up unpredictably when loading random files from this disk too which didn't happen before I deleted a file from the disk. Apart from having to switch on the MPC in advance, everything was running fine, I was appreciating the advantages of having a ZIP instead of the antiquated floppy. Now, I'm not so sure.
I know I should have made a back-up disk so please don't remind me of that. I didn't have a spare. The stupid thing is, I was going to by a ten pack of ZIPs today which makes it even worse. HELP!!! Thanks in advance.
