I ve been watching these threads for a while and I wasn't going to chime in because ppl like what they like. But jeez an Mpc is just a g damn low power computer with midi controller and audio interface in a box(and more expensive). While I agree that the hardware boxes tend to give more punch, but that's because they were designed to process your signal that way without your confirmation, while "software" production leaves it up to you to craft your desired sound. In my opinion Motu Bpm has more punch than any hardware box that I've had but thats subjective and thats partly because the library was processed through million dollar hardware.
There are pro and cons of Maschine and Mpc's, and Maschine has it's flaws but in my opinion there is nothing that can compare to Maschine's workflow(don't need to look at the monitor ever if you choose not to).
As far as sound, if you put garbage in you'll get garbage out.

peeps like to feel they have the best thing out so if anything come out to challenge that position peeps take it as a personal afront.
so hence u have the intense hatred towards maschine threads or beat thang threads or anything else that comes out.

I think what he was gettin at here was the 'computer vs. hardware' debates in that they both essentially break down to the same thing.
Maybe.

maschine is great and all (id still take my mpc 1000 over it tho for standalone piece)........
but what happened to MOTU BPM??
in my opinion MOTU BPM is a better piece of production software than the maschine. yes u do have to use the mouse a bit more but i think its actually faster adn easier to accomplish some things with the mouse. it also allows the GUI to be less deep and complex so u can accomplish faster and be able to do many things on the front panel (very little menu digging).
its sad to see BPM kinda fade away these days in maschines shadow. i really think its a superior software with more potential. use this in conjunction with an MPC w/ JJOS2XL and u have the best of both worlds.

Until Maschine can work without a computer, have 4 dedicated midi outs and multiple audio outs there is no contest for me. Two different pieces of kit in my eyes.

Then you Missed the point...If for you 'maschine' equals to the controller, then above will never be possible as in the controller there is no CPU, no memory, no logic, it's just...a controller
If you would understand the 'concept' of Maschine correctly then all you want and more is possible.
The concept of Maschine is that NI developed software + controller which are perfectly matched.
The software resides on a computer so you need a soundcard to actually 'hear' anything..meaning you can have 8 stereo channels out if your soundcard provides that...so it can do exactly what you want.
As for the MIDI : plug any MIDI interface in the USB of your computer and you can have up to 8 channels + the one of Maschine itself makeing 9 total..More then the 4 you request (or why should they be 'dedicated').
Again, if for you 'Maschine' is only the tactile part (the controller) then you have things completely wrong.
What you want is that Maschine is the same as an MPC : it's not, never was, and never intended to be that.
So you are right in saying 'two different pieces of kit'.
Owning both (MPC5000 and Maschine) I can tell you : Maschine can do anything you can do with MPC, and more

Maybe you should try a 2500 with JJOSXL then.
With my 2500 with JJOSXL I can send MTC and midi clock from ANY of the "dedicated" 4 midi outs at the same time. I say dedicated because when using one midi port you cannot send sync or midi info in parallel to multiple devices. MIDI is serial.
Sure you can buy a multiple midi interface for your computer, then get your DAW to send on each midi port.
Sure I could send all my audio outs from my PC, into my desk, then back into my PC.
I'd rather just use my 2500 though. It's all good, tight and simple.
Plus, JJOSXL makes workflow lightning fast.
I aint diggin dirt on Maschine though. Everyone has a preferred way of working and mine is to use my MPC as main sequencer and NOT my computer.
Each to their own.

mpc is a wrap shit is just to slow yes shit is quality but akia lacked vision for innovation and they just killing the shit off.
maschine is evolving so quick shit is a monster
i have no need of an mpc using them togther is kinda pointless, dudes will find anyway to keep using the mpc but truth is shit is redundant when working with a computer.
standalone thats the joint but for those that wanna integrate shit into computer shit is cumbersome compared to maschine.
