tripple monitor set up?

was wondering if any of you are running a tripple display set up in your studios?

i am interested in getting one set up in my new studio and wondered if its better to use a second graphics card or to get a tripple to go type device that splits the signal?

also i believe people use software to set up the screens to use indipendent programs.

any thoughts ,theorys or advice much appreciated.

also any experience with triple monitor brackets?

lets me hear your knolledge people, feel free to post any pics?

If I understand this correctly you want to extend your desktop workspace with additional monitors in that case you will need if you dont already own A)multi output video card B) additional video card, C) USB to VGA/DVI adapter...depending which route you take software comes with hardware.

thanks for your help but i was after some reviews of someone running a three monitor set up, as there are many ways of linking it all up, just wondered which way people had tried and what results they had.

I ran a dual setup with 2 24" widescreens. It was more of a pain in the ass than it helped. Just a single is better I think. I use Logic 9 Pro. Hot keys swap views faster than looking around.

why was it a pain ? it's a pretty straight forward and simple process..given you have all the hardware necessary should be only matter of hooking it up. adjusting your display settings to extend desktop and thats it. never have to touch it again..


I used to run 2 x 19"s no problem using GeForce 6800 GT (PC), now I got my 17"mbp connected to 28" and use both screens with no issue...

most modern cards come with VGA and HDMI already so running dual is no problem at all.. Just gotta make sure you specify which desktop is primary.

Pain as in, you can only look at one monitor at a time.. And if you hotkey skills are up to par, ome screen is all you need.. Put that second one in the booth..

got a two monitor set up very straight forward. i used to have a second cpu to run vst shit linked by midi with an extra sound card then both cpu soundcards came into a mixer. so that was sort of like a 3 monitor set up..

Same situation for me also. I sold my second 24" monitor and with the money I bought a used Kensington Expert Mouse trackball and KB Covers' Logic 9 shortcut keyboard cover.

well i think i`ll just go down the one widescreen route then,

i can always add another in time if i feel i t would benefit production.

Hey I can relate. Overkill is usually the first thing that comes to mind. But reality is what keeps us grounded.
