MPC 500 vs Yamaha SU 700

So I bought a 2000xl and studied up on it for a few months (thanks MPC forums community you have helped me out a lot) getting some satisfying results. Then I saw a 500 for sale for $350 NZD (maybe $280 US) and bought it because they usually sell for around $600-$800 down here. I was happy with it and the comparison with the 2kxl is about like what people have said on the forums.

Now I see this Yamaha SU 700 on Terademe for a starting bid of $220 NZD that looks like it has some advantages over both of the aforementioned MPC's apart from the more limited sample time. It appears that these Yamahas work well in conjunction with MPC's but I am curious as to whether anyone has experience with them and what these experiences might be. The effects sound pretty sweet and they have the ability to auto match BPMs without changing pitch. Any comments would be helpful.

I tried to like mine, but never got on with it. I didnt like the fx or filter. LFO didnt have a random wave. Sequencer was unuseable. Didnt have a pleasing character like some other samplers, sounded horrible when loops were pitched. Loops are the only thing it did very well, but setting loop points was aggravating. Plus the encoders are junk, that was the last straw. I dont miss it.

Get the MS-1.

I liked mine.Can get some wierd stuff going on.I liked the control of fx.Much better than akai(no suprizes there then.)Very good for glitchy stuff.Sequencer is wierd but you just have to learn to think differently.Saving stuff.Gotta have a scuzzy!!!!!This is one of its worst features.Slow.Use it with the mpc sequencer and you might be happy.Famous user Speedy J.

Sweet! That is contrary to what quite a few people have told me (but none of them even own MPC's). Anyway the Yamaha sold and I wasn't overly dissapointed. I have been messing around with syncing my ER1 and My Boss Dr-670 Drum machine to the 2000xl. I am going to try messing around syncing the xl with the 500 but it seems that this might be a redundancy? I'll take a look further through the forum. Thanks for the tips.
