Hey was thinking about putting a micro switch on the LCD screen to get some more years out of it. Previous screen lasted about 5 years - But I leave it on way too much ( although I turn it down dim). Don't know how easy it will be to replace the screen in another 5 years so was thinking about putting in a little micro switch just to kill the power to the screen. Any one done this or have any tips. THX!

Haven't tried it.... interesting idea tho. Another alternative i was thinking is to get a spare screen now and put it away. How would this microswitch work. Is it time sensitive?

HI, when I changed my screen over I realised that the screen assembly comes apart relatively simply. Was thinking of just installing a swtich that would cut power to the screen when switched off. This would be relatively easy you would just get a small switch and drill a small and discrete hole in the top of the screen assembly and make the power wire pass through it.
However, I don't know whether this would have a negative effect on the lcd screen somehow. Can't see how it would - Anyone?

I guess you talk about the backlight of the screen and not the actual screen right?

You should find infos about the backlight first get an adapted switch. Display backlights usually are relative high power parts (110 V) so you really should be careful.

I wouldn't do it BTW.
