Drum layering

I was just wonderin if there were any programs that are specifically good for drum layering.
I want to be able to layer drums and add effects (eqs and multiband compressors)| before sending samples into the mpc. Anyone have any good experience with any programs good for this?

Yes Ableton, or any DAW for that matter. Or even Audacity for freeness

I have been using Poise (as a Vst in Ableton) for almost 2 weeks now for this exact same purpose (sampling/layering drums into my S3000 sampler. It works flawlessly. I had used Battery 3 for years and loved it. Only reason i stopped using it is bcuz I didnt want any pirated software on my new pc and at this time im on a TIGHT budget so i went the cheaper solution Poise. What DAW r u using?

Anything that can work with multi channels and put effects/dynamics in series will do the job.

i'd like to speak up in favor of POISE
best software drum sampler i've encountered. works SO WELL alongside the mpc, really a huge part of my music and workflow. awesome program.
