Hey guys

I have a synth and an MPC that are connected to one another with midi. I use the MPC for sequencing & drum samples and the synth for melodies.

The problem is that with this combination the synth and the drum sample gets played at the same time. If I press a key one the synth where the drum sample is on the MPC, the sample and the note are triggered. Same if I press a pad on the MPC.

How can I set a track to play *either* the synth or the internal program?

Thanks!

which MPC?

on the MPC1000 you set Pgm to OFF or No.
that still allows the MPC to send midi notes, but no sample sounds when it does

use a master midi keyboard connect the midi out of the keyboard to the midi in of the mpc. then the midi out of the mpc to a sound mod or other midi inst. in the seq sec of the mpc in the track field change drum to midi then adj to the midi ch of the device your transmitting to plus output A or B on the mpc. so if your sound mod is set to recive on midi ch 3 and the midi cord is mpc out A to sound mod in then the track sould be set to MIDI 3A. use this method to filter all midi chs per track. you can also use the pgm change to select presets on the reciveing device. any more midi questions hit me off.

this is something i just posted on more or less the same subject. if this does not help let me know.

I'm using an MPC 2000

Pcise, I think I see what you're saying, but I had this same setup before with another keyboard (a Roland) without the use of midi controller, I just can't remember how I did it. I can have the synth transmit on a certain channel, but the mpc will pick it up and play the drum samples when it does.

On your synth, look for "Local Mode" and turn it off. Not 100% sure thats the problem but give it a try.

If i turn off local mode I won't be able to play the it except through the MPC, and then I will still be triggering the drum samples. I need to set it up so playing the synth does not trigger the sounds on the MPC, but still allows me to record and playback sequences to the synth and vice-versa.
