really there is no issue. the controller has worked great, and for the price its good. the things i dont like are: the knobs are not continuous rotating, they have a min. and a max....when you bank up and down, you press the lil program button on the side, then you press pad 1-4, you can see how that sucks if you are jamming out and want to bank up with out missing a note.. and the last thing is.. Why do they even have to have banks, why cant they just make it octive up like a midi keyboard does??? lol.. i took my lpd8 apart last night. the pads are sooo much different then mpc/mpd pads.. i will post pictures soon..

yeah non 360 continuous knobs make them shit for assigning to more then one thing.. plus you can adjust the sensitivity. also a transpose button would have been cool but i think the reason they dont do that is because MPDs traditionally are set up like the mpc and not like the MV... so each pad is set to what ever midi cc number you choose rather then to a set of keys. they give you a bank so you can set the next bank to how you wish.... if you were to transpose then what would the controller do if you didn't have the pads set up in key order?

Forget about the MPK and the MPD, get the MPC500 and stop frontin'!

if you could get 2 lpd8s, take them appart, and join them into one homemade case, that would be the best idea for a midi controller, i dont see why akai dont make all the controller and mpc pads and sensors like this, aside from the gay ass orange leds that light up everytime you hit a pad. the pads are a dream, and when i took it apart I saw that the sensors are huge, the rubber pads are thisk as hell, and cover all of the sensors.. isnt it funny how akai/numark gets the pads right on their cheapest controller???

really? can the parts be swapped into other machines ? now that would be a mod!

I used to run the MPK49 and MPD32 simultaneously with the Reason 4.1 and that was beastly...Real Production studio on a budget, I have moved up now into the hardware spectrum of music making and its a different feel but for beginners or people who cant afford to drop 2 or 3 racks on some equipment, I would say dont even **** yourself by not buying the other, buy both and experience music making for it should be, a creative outlet.

Nah, not necessary if you have them both. but forget about the 500...copp a 1000 and at least be in the game, Ive seen people doing damage with a 1000. a 500 is cheesy.
