Theoreticly is it possible to change compression sample rate in 60 via software rom changes?
Maybe editable sample rate?

OK. By changing it's permanent down sample rate it could eliminate presence of other sampler (in recording chain).
I think 60 would gain much by adding such function mod.
Our Grand Master Rohan probably knows how it could be done. :)

Rohan, is such software modification complicated, possible?
Is it interesting to develop software upgrade of 3.10e ?

I assume it's possible - would probably take changes to the sound generator rom (the mpc 60 has 2 processors/os roms in it - the sound playback engine and the other processor that handles midi, etc which is the one normally upgraded).
3.10 has the compression feature which cuts the sample rate in half. Also, variable sample rate is convenient, but you can effectively do the same thing by sampling in sped up then slowing down - you're effectively reducing your sample rate, which can be done on any sampler so it's not really necessary. Variable sample rate is nice though. I've been messing with the ensoniq mirage and having fun with that.

Yes, but 60 will replay that frequency on 40000 Khz, that takes more storage space

No it wont take more space cause the speed up sample will be shorter :)

by sampling in speed up, then slowing it down in machine - playback is performed at 40000khz or 20000khz

by changing/converting sample rate - playback is performed at users lower sampled fHz

That option mod interests me.

You are right about space.

I am interested in this concept but the roger linn os has compression from 40khz to 20 so then its less than the sp1200

Why not contact Roger Linn with this idea. He's a decent guy you know ;-)

Another idea would be to bypass the input and or output filter (aliasing filter). But this would be a more hardcore mod :) Oh and its OT of coursse 8)

Theoreticly possible - yes. Going to happen - very unlikely. Not worth the investment.

It wont eliminate the need for another sampler due to sample memory still being small and no keygroups, filters, modulation and all the other things we enjoy about other samplers.

The help feature was already lost in the 3XXX os updates to make space for new code.
What features would you loose to make room for multiple sample rates ?

@ Eimer. Roger Linn hasn't done any MPC development since the 90's.
What makes you think he'll be interested now ? Its not like the market for such things has grown since then.
