second hand mpc1000

hey guys,

I was wondering if you could help me out.
I want to buy a second hand mpc1000 but I still have a couple of question.

So I want to buy a mpc1000 from a guy who told me these facts about it:

It's a blue-red mpc with the JJOS 1 software installed on it. It has 40 gb HDD and the pads are still working as they should but they are not replaced by new ones. He asked 425 € and gives 10 SD-cards with it. He told me it was like 2 years old.

Now my questions is, is it a good thing to buy it cause I had a discussion with my dad about the fact that hardware doesn't work that good anymore after years(he made the comparisation with computers). He told me that I better buy a new one but that like double the price I would pay and half the upgrades i get now. So what about the lifetime of an mpc1000? And what about the price and facts I have given?

that´s a bad deal.
hard disks are cheap nowadays, the jjos is not the latest (you have to spend 64 $ if you want the os2xl), the original pads really suck, so you have to invest 180 $ for a pad upgrade and he must be a liar, because the blue mpc1000 was discontinued years ago.

in fact, here in germany the blue model was replaced with the black one around 2006...

tell him 250, woukdnt pay over 3, get the pad upgrade, the machine will last u for several yrs

So It's to risky & overpriced, right?

Would I be better off buying this(see link) to make sure that I get everything in the best condition even though it doesn't come with a HDD, SD cards and stuff?

Besides, is it even necessairy to get a HDD right away ? If you're making beats do you need the extra memory space that bad, or does it have enough to get started?

Thats a good deal, I only glanced at it but looked to be brand new, upside is if it goes bad on you, you can return it or at least get the warranty

you don't need the HDD, a 2GB CF card is plenty to get started with, and you could always get another card if you fill it

(but you keep referring to SD cards ... the MPC1000 uses Compact Flash cards, not the same thing)
