Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Someone please help. I have an Mpc 2000XL with a Triton Le an the ION. I have the Triton in on channel 1 out on A. The Ion in on ch 2 out on B. The mpc puts the midi from the triton but not from the ion. Can someone walk me through it.

Yes.

Find out what a 'midi handshake' is referring to the standard method of connecting midi devices.

Do yourself a favour, read the whole page at Tweakheadz or even the whole site.

Well thanks for that link but I am aware of how to connect midi but for some reason the ion won't sync with my mpc. As I said I have a triton connected as well that works fine. I've read in other post that there are a few other people having the same problem.

What are you trying to do? People use MIDI and SYNC almost interchangeably but they are not the same thing. SYNC is something you can get with MIDI, but they do not mean the same thing.

You probably don't need BOTH keyboards going midi IN to the MPC...you can use just one as a master. I'm a little less sure of how it work using TWO controller keyboards, because I don't do that. However, midi OUT I'm confident in.

If it truly is SYNC you are trying to achieve, is your sync on the mpc set to go to both outputs A and B? Also, your Ion needs to be set to receive external midi clock.

If it's just note triggering, do you have tracks set to send on output A and other tracks to send on out B?

Is your Ion set to receive on the same channels you are outputting on?

"I've read in other post that there are a few other people having the same problem" doesn't have much weight. If you are assuming that this is a problem with the Ion, you should reconsider. 90% of problems that people freak out about on here claiming their equipment is broken is user error. Again, I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just saying slow down and consider for a moment anything you might be doing wrong.

Your post did not mention sync anywhere, did it?

Now you're talking about sync...
