TBH, I wouldn't think it would be a wise idea to work off of other peoples opinions.

Reason being, everybody has a different view & opinion of what this "pro audio" thing is all about.

So I think it would be better that you do some homework, check out some reviews of what it is you're interested in, and take it from there.

Some don't believe in or are concerned with how good the converters are with an audio interface, nor do they care about features.

Hear say can be your worst enemy in making a decision such as this.

That's why I suggested learning some ins & out of what you're getting ready to get youreslf into.

Here's a good example...my boy just picked up an iMac i3 last night and now he wants a good audio interface.

His budget of course is probably out of the range of most around here, but he's done been down that road with getting his first 20 bit echo gina audio card years ago, followed by grabbing that digi 001 when it first came out.

Now he's raising the bar with grabbing an apogee ensemble for his new mac toy. He's heavy into doing music videos now so that's the justification for him needing a good interface from what I've gathered.

I'm waiting as I write this for dude to scoop me up so we can both go out and fine this hard to find apogee joint.

How does an Ensemble help him make videos?

I left out "new computer" along with the audio interface. I guess he wants his videos to sound "pristine" or see what they sound like on a better system other than what he's been working with (windows based that is) before he commits to finalizing anything.

Better audio quality makes better videos I guess.

edit: his camera uses 1080i technology btw, plus he's an adobe cs4 or 5 user.

Bet that! I noticed my man using a lot of aftermarket plug-ins for efx as well. Sh!t's on another level with this video stuff.
